Betfair Ambassador Olly Murphy has just the two runners at Kelso on Sunday, but one of them is his best chance of the weekend and the other looks sharp too...
12:30 – Skandiburg
"Opponents Stoney Rover and Trixster are obviously nice horses who command respect but I wouldn’t swap my lad for anything and thought he was my best chance of a winner over the course of the weekend."
Here's my best chance of winner this weekend...
12:30 - Skandiburg
Skandiburg is one of three runners in this race who will be carrying a winners penalty. He didn't seem to beat much in Fakenham but the manner in which he shot clear, to put the race to bed between the last two hurdles was very impressive, even allowing for the novicey mistake at the last. He saw the 2m4f trip out very well there and the step up to 2m6f here will be ideal. The other two penalised runners - Stoney Rover and Trixster - are obviously nice horses who command respect but I wouldn't swap my lad for anything and thought he was my best chance of a winner over the course of the weekend.
Sparkling debut in the offing?
13:35 - Diamond King
This will be the stable debut for the 2016 Coral Cup winner who joined us from Gordon Elliott's late last year. He was rated 149 when winning that race in Cheltenham and is just 1lbs lower on 148 now, so he's still plenty high enough in the handicap. I'm dropping him back in trip here and, as there are only four other runners, we may ride him differently. He's an 11-year-old now but, if he shows a sparkle of his old form - and he may on ground that he'll love - then he'll be in the mix.
