Joseph O'Brien sends three fillies to Gowran Park on Saturday afternoon with Eria being his best hope of a winner in the Maiden at 15:35. Here he discusses all three runners...
"It looks like the winner will need to run to at least 80 here, but there was enough promise in her debut to suggest she can get to that sort of level. Hopefully she'll go close."
- Joseph O'Brien on Eria
Lovely filly that is expected to improve for the run
12:55 - Celebre
Celebre is a lovely filly that was well bought at the Goffs Orby Sale. She is a scopey filly that should come into her own in the second half of the season and possibly over a bit further than this, but this looks to be an ideal starting point for her. As always with my two-year-olds, she can be expected to improve both mentally and physically from her first racecourse experience. All being well she'll show plenty of promise with a view to the future.
Down in trip and grade gives her a sneaky chance
14:30 - Elleanthus
Elleanthus came within a couple of lengths of earning Group 3 black type at the backend of last season, but she has proven to be disappointing so far this year. She has steadily dropped in the weights and this is the lowest grade of race she has ever contested. Hopefully that will mean it will all be a bit easier for her. In fairness to her, she looked to be delivering a big challenge in a stronger race at Killarney last time until her stamina seemed to give way, so coming back to a mile should be a help to her. It would be hard to be confident in her, but at the same time, there are a few reasons to give her a sneaky chance.
Plenty of promise on debut to suggest she'll go close
15:35 - Eria
Eria is a filly that made a promising debut at Killarney earlier this month. Shane Crosse gave her a lovely ride, getting her in amongst horses and teaching her loads about the game. She was making quite promising headway until meeting a dead end in traffic close home and wasn't beaten far at all. She should learn an awful lot from that. It looks like the winner will need to run to at least 80 here, but there was enough promise in her debut to suggest she can get to that sort of level. Hopefully she'll go close.
