It promises to be a busy Saturday for Joseph O'Brien and his team as he sends runners to four meetings, starting in France and ending late at night at Woodbine in Canada...
"She has a good draw and has the top jockey at the track Eurico Da Silva to guide her. Her best form looks to give her a good chance of going close, so hopefully all will go smooth and she will run well."
- Joseph O'Brien on Red Tea
Ground and trip fine as we take a step up in class
Maisons-Laffitte 13:35 - Lady Penelope
We are sending Lady Penelope over to France to contest this Group 2 race and we are looking forward to seeing what she can do. She has improved with each of her starts so far and gained some valuable black type at Ayr last time. We had intended on running her in a Listed race at Chantilly last week, but between a bomb scare in Dover and inclement weather, she wasn't able to travel. Hopefully it will all be for luck in the end, as this looks a notch or two below the standard one would normally expect for a Group 2. It would be huge for her if she could sneak into the frame, so we'll hope for the best. The soft ground will be no problem for her and we think she'll be fine over this longer trip.
Hoping for improvement
Limerick 14:00 - Johan The Great
Johan The Great showed some promise on his debut at Dundalk a fortnight ago and should improve from that. I think this much softer surface will probably suit him and I'd be hopeful he can improve enough to run well.
Draw not ideal but he's one for the future
Limerick 14:35 - Big Call
Big Call is a nice horse that came to us from the breeze-up sale at Arqana in France. He has a wider-than-ideal draw and we think he'll be better over longer trips than this, but hopefully he'll show plenty of promise for the future.
Enough promise to suggest he can win one of these
Limerick 16:55 - Blacklooks
Blacklooks was a bit disappointing in his last start at Laytown and he'll be meeting a much softer surface in this. He has some good form on testing ground in England going back a few years, so you'd have to be hopeful that he'll handle it. He has shown enough promise to suggest he can win one of these, so hopefully he'll run well.
Hoping for something to build on
Fairyhouse 15:25 - Geesala Scorpion
Geesala Scorpion is from the family of Synchronised and we'll be hoping he shows some promise for the future on his racecourse debut.
Good draw and top jockey gives us a good chance
Woodbine 22:05 - Red Tea
Red Tea has been absolutely unbelievable for us this year. She started the season rated 96 and has just improved so much, winning a Group 2 at the Curragh and finishing third in a Group 1 at Deauville last time. We wanted to find her the most winnable Group 1 we could for her, so we've sent her on her travels for this Grade 1 in Canada. She has a good draw and has the top jockey at the track Eurico Da Silva to guide her. Her best form looks to give her a good chance of going close, so hopefully all will go smooth and she will run well.
