Joseph O'Brien: Isotope can run a big race at Gowran Park on Sunday

Betfair Ambassador Joseph O'Brien discusses his five runners at Gowran Park and one at Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon.

"Isotope is a lovely horse... He ran well enough at the Curragh last time considering things didn’t really go right for him on the day, but the way he shaped suggested a longer trip and softer ground would be a help to him. He gets both of those things here, so hopefully they will help him run a big race."

Gowran Park

Ripe for improvement

13:35 - No Days Off

No Days Off made his debut in what was a very good maiden at the Curragh last month and was just caught out by his inexperience, missing the kick and just not knowing enough to compete at that level. Like all of ours, he should derive lots of benefit from that experience and I'd be hopeful he'll show good improvement. However, this looks a strong maiden.

Hope more than confidence

14:05 - Severus Alexander

Severus Alexander only hinted at promise in maidens and the handicapper doesn't look to have taken any chances with him. He's been gelded since his last run and hopefully that will be a help to him, but we'd be approaching this with more hope than confidence.

Will relish longer trip

15:45 - Marylebone

Marylebone is a horse we took a chance on buying from England, but as of yet, he hasn't threatened to turn the corner for us. This longer trip might be a help to him and he has a good draw, but it would be hard to be confident in his prospects.

Ready for a big race

16:55 - Isotope

Isotope is a lovely horse that got off the mark for us at Cork back in April. He ran well enough at the Curragh last time considering things didn't really go right for him on the day, but the way he shaped suggested a longer trip and softer ground would be a help to him. He gets both of those things here, so hopefully they will help him run a big race.

Good and competitive

16:55 - Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach shaped quite well on his handicap debut at Navan, making good late headway in traffic. He should have learned from that and with this longer trip being likely to suit him, I'd be hopeful that he can be good and competitive.

Downpatrick

Should be in the mix

17:05 - Lady Breffni

Lady Breffni is a lovely mare that we bought after she won a point-to-point. We were happy with her first run for us where she finished third in a bumper at Tipperary. I'd be hopeful she will improve from that and will hopefully be in the mix at the finish.
