Betfair Ambassador Hugo Palmer discusses Strange Society's chances at Haydock and explains why his runner is a real trier who should be in contention on Saturday afternoon...
"I'm delighted he's got in with a light weight, which his jockey Josie Gordon can do without difficulty, and I'm also really pleased with the draw he's been given."
High hopes for a big race
Strange Society has had this race as his target for some time, and the plan was always to give him one run before coming here. He ran well when a close third at Wolverhampton the other day, and I think he just needed that run, which should put him spot on.
I'm delighted he's got in with a light weight which Josie can do without difficulty, and I'm also really pleased with the draw he's been given, as I think it counts for an awful lot to have such a nice spot in a big-field handicap at Haydock.
He's a really good sort and a real trier, who would run through a brick wall for you, while I don't think the handicapper has been too harsh with a mark of 83. I'd like to think he's a bit better than that, so I am hopeful he can run a big race.
