Hugo Palmer saddles four runners in England today and all four have leading claims according to the Betfair markets, and here the Betfair Ambassador gives his brief thoughts on his quartet of chances...
"I run Banish in the 1m maiden at Lingfield (14:10), and he would have a leading chance, especially with the step up in trip looking sure to suit."
We run two horses at Newcastle's new all-weather track today, both of which are towards the top of the betting.
We step Air Of Astana back down in trip after he disappointed in a 1m4f maiden at Wolverhampton maiden last time, and he would clearly have a chance in the 14:35 race if coming back to the form that saw him finish second to the progressive Dark Red at Chelmsford on his previous start.
Wall Of Fire goes in the 7f handicap at 16:10 and he is having his first start for us since leaving Richard Hannon. He joined us in February.
He showed a good level of ability in his two starts as a juvenile but he doesn't look obviously well-treated on a mark of 92, and ideally I think he wants a mile. But hopefully there is improvement to come from him, and we start him off in first-time blinkers. He is one of my three possibles for the Britannia.
My two other runners today are Banish in the 1m maiden at Lingfield (14:10), and he would have a leading chance, especially with the step up in trip looking sure to suit.
We also have Gimlet in the 1m6f handicap at Wetherby (20:10) tonight. He ran his best race yet when second at Lingfield on his reappearance, his first start since being gelded, and I think a 2lb rise for that effort still leaves him fairly weighted. Hopefully, the extra 2f will help, too.
