Having been switched from the Andre Fabre stable in France, Qassem steps up considerably in trip on his first run for Hugo Palmer on Saturday afternoon, and here the Betfair Ambassador gives his views on the horse's chances in the valuable Handicap...
"...but at least he is lightly-raced, unexposed at the trip and Josephine (Gordon) takes 3lb off, so he only races off 8st here."
15:35 Doncaster - Qassem
We haven't had him long as he only joined us from Andre Fabre in September. All his form was over 6f to 1m there, but he has certainly showed us more stamina than speed since he has been with us, so we chance our arm and try him over 1m4f in this valuable handicap. He looks like a middle-distance horse, too.
He is rated 95, which doesn't seem overly-generous on his French form, but at least he is lightly-raced, unexposed at the trip and Josephine (Gordon) takes 3lb off, so he only races off 8st here.
His best form to date looks to have come on good ground, which he will get here, but I definitely would have liked to see some rain for him.
