Hugo Palmer has just two runners on Saturday afternoon, and here the Betfair Ambassador gives his thoughts on the chances of Gulliver at York and Star Archer at Newmarket...
"He is a lovely middle-distance prospect, and in fact I haven’t ruled out going for the 1m2f Group 1 in Paris if he runs well here."
- Hugo Palmer on Star Archer
16:20 York - Gulliver
He has had a long break since disappointing over 6f here in May, and we are stepping him up to 7f and trying him in blinkers. His work is more than good enough for him to win a maiden of this nature, but he has to want to try.
16:45 Newmarket - Star Archer
He doesn't want the ground too quick, which is a worry, but we had some heavy dews here in Newmarket earlier this week - and they put 3mm on the home straight on Wednesday - so that helps. We had the 1m option of the Autumn Stakes for him but we have decided to come down the 1m2f route.
His Windsor second obviously worked out very well, and he had a nice confidence-booster when winning at Haydock last time. He is a lovely middle-distance prospect, and in fact I haven't ruled out going for the 1m2f Group 1 in Paris if he runs well here.
