Just the one runner on British Champions Day for Hugo Palmer, and here the Betfair Ambassador gives his exclusive thoughts on Qassam in the closing handicap...
"He has taken the race well, however, and is in tremendous form, so I'm very much looking forward to running him here."
It's over 20 years since his magnificent seven, but Frankie Dettori has a fair few chances earlier on the card, and if he has five winners by the time we get to the last, wouldn't it be amazing if he could make it a magnificent six on Qassem?
His run in the Cambridgeshire was obviously a disappointment to us, but the ground had dried out plenty on the Saturday, and I don't think the going, the undulating nature of the track at Newmarket or the trip suited him ideally.
He has taken the race well, however, and is in tremendous form, so I'm very much looking forward to running him here, where the easy ground will be in his favour, as will the return to a mile. I think he'll run a bold race, although you'd struggle to say he's obviously well handicapped, and we might be vulnerable to less exposed rivals.
