Timeform take you through the card at York on Saturday.
14:10 - FIRMAMENT (2) wasn't disgraced when third on his return to action in a listed race at Ascot and is entitled to improve with that first outing for over six months under his belt. He takes a significant drop in grade and, having progressed with every start towards the end of last season, Firmament could yet have more to offer this year and is fancied to provide trainer David O'Meara with a third victory from the last four renewals of this race.
14:40 - DAL HARRAILD (1) was progressive for William Haggas in 2016 and proved better than ever when signing off for the year with a dominant victory in a listed race at Newmarket. That form gives him the edge over Clever Cookie on Timeform ratings here and, with the potential to develop into a smart stayer this year, Dal Harraild is fancied to show the benefit of his seasonal reappearance at Newbury and can justify favouritism under Paul Hanagan.
15:15 - DANCE KING (5) was arguably unlucky not to win when second on his most recent outing at Ripon and makes most appeal with the Placepot in mind here, having filled the runner-up spot on two of his three previous visits to this track. The obvious danger is the unexposed handicap debutant St Malo, who brushed aside a subsequent winner at Newcastle on his final 2016 start and makes his handicap debut from what looks a fair mark.
15:50 - COPPER KNIGHT (17) resumed winning ways with a dominant victory at Chester two weeks ago and remains potentially very well-treated from just 8 lb higher in the weights here. Indeed, that form gives him the edge over RICH AND FAMOUS (19) on Timeform ratings and Copper Knight is fancied to take this step up in class in his stride, with the possibility of more to come after just two starts for this yard. Rich And Famous is better than he was able to show last time and is also considered for Placepot purposes.
16:25 - ZAMAN (9) makes plenty of appeal on pedigree (half-brother to a two-year-old winner over five furlongs) and has to enter calculations in this fifth leg of the Placepot for Charlie Appleby, who has made such a fine start to the year with his juveniles. He is joined in the Placepot by QUEEN'S SARGENT (7), who wasn't seen to best effect when seventh on his racecourse bow at Pontefract (forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal) and should prove capable of better with that initial experience under his belt.
17:00 - CRIMSON ROSETTE (6) produced a career-best effort when third at Newmarket five weeks ago and that form could hardly have worked out better, with the runner-up going one better in a listed race at Newbury next time. She would appear to hold sound claims if reproducing that level of form here and is fancied to take advantage of what looks a lenient mark for her handicap debut, with the step up to this trip expected to suit.
17:30 - ROCK WARBLER (11) has proved better than ever on the all-weather of late and could be the answer to an open-looking contest if reproducing that form now back on turf. Explain was a game winner of his most recent outing at Ripon and looks the main danger.
