"Trainer Scott Dixon has an impressive £129.05 level stakes profit with his runners in first-time headgear..."

Timeform on Dark Shot

14:05 - The Richard Hannon-trained ENCHANTED LINDA (10) was a comfortable winner of her penultimate outing at Ffos Las and progressed further to follow up at Beverley last month, knuckling down well to defy a penalty. Clearly going the right way, she starts out in handicaps from what looks a reasonable mark and could be the way to go in what is, admittedly, an open heat, with champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa taking over in the saddle for the first time, too.

14:40 - ALEMARATALYOUM (10) has continued to progress for Iain Jardine this term and scored a shade more comfortably than the short-head verdict suggests at Haydock last time. He can follow up in this second leg of the Placepot, with UAE Prince and Breanski feared most of the remainder.

15:15 - ANGEL ALEXANDER (2) ran to a high level first-time out when second to a useful sort at Haydock two weeks ago, finishing clear of the rest, and is taken to go one better with improvement on the cards. Skeetah and Exalted Angel both went close on debut and head the list of dangers.

15:50 - The beautifully bred SURYA (3) has looked streets ahead of the handicapper of late, again having plenty to spare after powering through the race at Haydock last time, so there's no obvious reason to oppose him here. Hat-trick seekers Canford Heights, who remains open to more improvement after just four starts, and Astromachia look the main dangers.

16:25 - Trainer Scott Dixon has an impressive £129.05 level stakes profit with his runners in first-time headgear and it could be worth chancing his runner, DARK SHOT (15), as he attempts to build on that here, with blinkers replacing the cheekpieces he has worn on his last two starts. Indeed, he shaped as if still in good form when fifth, beaten just a length and a quarter, on the first of those at Chester, and has now dropped to a mark 4 lb lower than when second over C&D in May. Iconic Knight and Island of Life are others to note.

17:00 - SAM COOKE (9) stands out on form having pulled clear with another promising sort at Lingfield last time and there's plenty of scope for further improvement, so he's a confident choice to get off the mark in this concluding leg of the Placepot, ahead of Mardle and Tribal Commander, who are also likely to do better.

17:35 - ROYAL RESIDENCE (11) is a sprinter on the up and was unlucky not to finish closer when runner-up in a big-field handicap at Ayr last time. Still on a decent mark, he can land the spoils in the finale. Dalton, Gin In The Inn and Equitation make up the shortlist.
