14:00 - SCALE FORCE (3) was beaten only by a much-improved one at Wolverhampton on Monday and is taken to go one better from the same mark in this opening leg of the Placepot. Texting and Mr Buttons head up the opposition.
14:30 - OTAGO (2) confirmed the promise of his debut when third here last time, holding every chance a furlong out and keeping on well thereafter to go down only narrowly in a bunched finish. On that evidence, Michael Bell's charge will be suited by the return to six furlongs here, and with more scope for improvement than chief market rivals Born To Destroy and My Motivate Girl, he appeals as a worthy favourite in the hands of Tom Marquand, who has been amongst the winners in rather remarkable fashion in recent days (ridden winners at 50/1 and 100/1).
15:05 - FUNNY MAN (4) showed improved form when second on his handicap debut at Brighton 10 days ago, taking a while to get going (went in snatches) but catching the eye with how well he finished, never nearer than the three quarters of a length he was beaten at the line. That form received a boost when the third won next-time-out, and with more improvement on the cards now stepping up even further in trip, Funny Man looks a good bet to open his account from the same mark, representing the William Haggas yard that excels with its runners at this venue (24% strike rate).
15:40 - ELSIE VIOLET (9) arrives on the back of a career best, having finished runner-up in first-time cheekpieces at Lingfield three weeks ago, and she'll go close if the headgear works again. Fair Power will pop up at some point from his reduced mark, while Swiss Peak another to consider, for all that it's difficult to back any of these with confidence.
16:10 - AWEEDRAM (1) had his Royal Ascot bid ended before it even began after getting loose beforehand, but hopefully those antics were a one-off and he might be capable of defying top weight here, as his handicap form this season is very solid. It'll be a surprise if there isn't more to come from the William Haggas-trained Destination and he can give Alan King's charge most to do.
16:45 - MARHABA MILLIAR (3) lost his unbeaten record when last seen at Chelmsford in September, but he still shaped with promise in defeat, only narrowly failing to concede 18 lb to the winner and, in the process, producing a useful effort that was backed up by the clock. That form leaves him 3 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings here, and with the prospect of even more to come after only three starts, this looks a good opportunity for John Gosden's charge to making a winning reappearance, with his smart pedigree also an ongoing recommendation (by Kodiac and out of the Lowther winner Lady of The Desert).
17:20 - MAGICAL RIDE (1) put six lengths between himself and the rest when a neck second to a well-handicapped rival at Lingfield on Saturday, and his claims are fairly obvious with Adam Kirby taking over in the saddle from the same mark. Hi Ho Silver has been knocking on the door and is second choice, ahead of Billie Beane.
