Nick Shiambouros returns with a couple of fancies from Yarmouth...
"He is bred to be quick, and the stable has a good record in this race"
Deverell ready on debut
14:45 Yarmouth - Deverell
Deverell is my idea of the winner of this good looking novice stakes.
This Kingman colt was an early March foal and comes from a speedy family. The Dam Lizzie Siddal was herself unraced, but comes from the family of Hit The Bid. He is bred to be quick, and the stable has a good record in this race. He will do for me, and is fairly priced at 6.86/1 on the exchange.
Charlie Applelby sends out favourite Path Of Thunder who is trading at 2.1211/10 on the exchange. He cost a lot of money at the breeze-up sales, but ran green on debut when finishing third to Threat at HQ earlier this month. Improvement is expected but there are some nice types in this race.
Sirius means business
16:15 Yarmouth - Sirius Slew
Sirius Slew should go close in this interesting maiden.
This gelding finished an excellent second to Camachess in a handicap over this course last month. He delivered a strong challenge a furlong from home, but the winner proved the stronger near the line. This was his first start for trainer Alan Bailey and clearly has more to offer. At present he is trading at 3.814/5 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Ryan Moore takes the ride on Local History who is the current favourite at 2.466/4 on the exchange. This filly was a shade disappointing when finishing third to Wedding Date at Kempton last November. She is best judged on her debut effort when finishing fifth to Nashirah over this course. She is the obvious danger, but looks short enough on what she has achieved so far.
