"She certainly showed enough to suggest she is up to winning from this mark..."

14:20 - AWESOME ALLAN (8) is doing nothing wrong at present and was beaten just three quarters of a length when filling the runner-up spot over five furlongs here last time. He can race from the same mark in this opening leg of the Placepot and looks sure to give another good account, with champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa doing the steering once again. A Sure Welcome and Berlios are a couple of others to consider.

14:50 - NEW STREET (2) proved that his ability remains firmly intact when third at Lingfield last month, enduring trouble in-running entering the final three furlongs and doing well under the circumstances to get within two and a quarter lengths of the winner. He is potentially well treated if able to build on that and makes most appeal with the Placepot in mind here. Dor's Law and Street Poet both arrive in form and head up the opposition.

15:25 - KOUBBA (8) is less exposed than most in this line-up and has shown enough to suggest she is up to winning a race such as this. He gets a tentative vote, therefore, in a race where it is difficult to make a solid case for most of them, though Filament of Gold and Kristal Hart have both won off higher marks in the past so shouldn't be taken lightly at this level.

16:00 - FONT VERT (4) showed much improved form to get off the mark at Kempton last time, responding well to the change of tactics (made all) and showing a good attitude in first-time blinkers to land the spoils by a short head. He has a 3 lb rise in the weights to contend with here, but could have more to offer stepping up further in trip and, with a visor replacing the blinkers, Ralph Beckett's charge looks worth backing in his follow-up bid.

16:35 - CUSTARD THE DRAGON (1) was value for extra when third in a solid handicap at Southwell last time (not ideally placed), and a reproduction of that form ought to see him go close again in this penultimate leg of the Placepot. Dark Alliance should continue in good heart and is feared most ahead of Energia Flavio.

17:05 - JOYFUL DREAM (1) produced her best effort for a while when fourth over C&D in February, prominent from the outset and keeping on well to be beaten just two lengths. She certainly showed enough to suggest she is up to winning from this mark and, though below-par at Chelmsford last time, it would be no surprise if she were to bounce back in a first-time visor here, dropping back into a 0-50 likely to be in her favour, too.
