Timeform on Ulster

17:00 - SHARP OPERATOR (3) resumed winning ways over this C&D last month and remains in form judged by his latest effort from a revised mark at Chelmsford last time. He shaped better than the bare result under an inexperienced claimer, caught wide and would have likely appreciated a stronger pace, too. He is expected to fare much better now returned to this venue with Luke Morris taking over in the saddle. Adventureman isn't one to take lightly on his reappearance, while Our Manekineko might have another race in him near to hand.

17:30 - It's hard to get away from the claims from BAY OF NAPLES (4), who didn't have much to spare at Lingfield recently but it'll be a major surprise if he isn't capable of much better given his pedigree and the face that that was only his second start. Trainer Mark Johnston is in flying form also so Bay of Naples looks banker material here. Sarasota and Cardano both arrive on the back of encouraging efforts here and are likely to have a say, while Kevin Ryan's newcomer Laulloir would very much enter the reckoning if the betting speaks in her favour.

18:00 - MARTINEO (6) bounced right back to his best on his second start for this yard when winning a six-furlong handicap here last month, travelling well and staying on to lead close home. That was his first start since undergoing a gelding operation, and a subsequent 2 lb rise leaves him well treated on his old form - has gone close from higher marks in the past. Adam Kirby knows the horse well and has a good strike rate at Wolverhampton so Martineo is fully expected to follow up from a good draw with the step back up in trip no problem. Lucky Lodge, who has finished hot on the heels of the in-form Epeius over six furlongs at Newcastle the last twice, is feared most.

18:30 - This looks a competitive race of its type with several interesting types on show, but the one who tops the list is JUANITO CHICO (6), who has been holding his form well of late. He wasn't suited by the ordinary pace when finishing third at Chelmsford earlier this month, racing freely in the rear before making headway two furlongs out, but his earlier exertions told in the closing stages. The likes of Michele Strogoff and Key Player should ensure this isn't run at a crawl and Juanito Chico is expected to fare much better with Oisin Murphy taking back over in the saddle. Swiss Storm would be a very big danger if he's ready to roll after a break, and the market could prove informative.

19:00 - This looks a competitive race with both ULSTER (2) and Flaming Marvel boasting progressive profiles, and narrow preference is for the former who maintained his unbeaten record for this yard when winning a mile and a half handicap at Kempton last time. He made just the one start for Saeed bin Suroor as a two-year-old in a race which has worked out well, and has improved with each run for Archie Watson, travelling fluently and leading two furlongs out latest, ultimately winning with a fair bit in hand. The runner-up has won since, so the form looks solid, and Ulster should have even more to offer now handicapping over this longer trip.

19:30 - DEBBONAIR (3) got off the mark at Kempton in December and has run at least as well in defeat the last twice, so remains on to be interested in at this level. Admittedly, he comes up against some progressive sorts once more, but he himself could have more to offer now stepping up even further in trip. He bumped into one at Lingfield last time who was gambled on and proved well ahead of his mark, so it's encouraging the handicapper hasn't raised him for that effort and he should be up to winning more races. Lord Lamington has been gelded and will appreciate this step up in trip, so a big run is expected from him, too.
