"She looks sure to improve plenty with that initial experience under her belt..."

18:00 - BERKSHIRE ROYAL (9) escapes a penalty for his clear-cut C&D victory under this rider on Tuesday and, providing this race doesn't come too soon, he should prove a tough nut to crack in this opening leg of the Placepot. Whitehall will surely leave his 2-y-o form behind at some point this season and is interesting now handicapping, but Verstappen and Taifbalady may emerge as the main dangers on this occasion.

18:30 - AVOCET (1) is by far the most solid option for Placepot purposes here, with fewer questions to answer than the vast majority of her rivals. Indeed, while she was thwarted when bidding for the hat-trick at Southwell last time, that was still a decent effort and a mere reproduction would probably suffice. Sevilla and Riverside Bridge should both have a part to play, while Air Ministry is also worth a second look.

19:00 - SUNSHINEANDBUBBLES (2) won twice over a shorter trip here last month and again ran well when a nose second last time, leading early in the straight but headed on the post. She is still getting better on that evidence and, with Rossa Ryan taking a valuable 5 lb off her back this evening, Sunshineandbubbles looks sure to give another good account and is fancied to resume winning ways for the Jennie Candlish yard that has won with three of its last four runners on the all-weather.

19:30 - PENNIESFROMHEAVEN (9) is speedily bred (by Lethal Force and out of a five-furlong winner at two) and produced an encouraging first effort when third at Lingfield two weeks ago, running green under pressure before making late headway to be beaten just two lengths. She looks sure to improve plenty with that initial experience under her belt and should take all the beating for the Franny Norton/Dean Ivory combination, with the newcomers Cloud Seeding and Sesame feared most.

20:00 - HERMOSITA (6) has plenty of stamina in her pedigree, but she displayed a good turn of foot when making a winning debut over six furlongs at Yarmouth on her sole two-year-old start in June. There should be plenty more to come from her and she is selected to improve past the standard-setting Promising and Tivoli in this penultimate leg of the Placepot. Power To Exceed looks the pick of the newcomers.

20:30 - MANJAAM (3) largely struggled in 2017, but he has slipped to a handy mark as a consequence and has gone well when fresh in the past, so could be worth chancing. Ocean of Love looks solid and may well reverse last month's Chelmsford placings with Bear Valley, but an even bigger threat may be posed by Star of The East, assuming he's ready to roll on this seasonal reappearance.

21:00 - LORD COOPER (5) makes plenty of appeal in the finale, having shaped well when third from 1 lb higher in a slighty higher grade handicap at Kempton last time. He's entitled to come on for that run (first start for four months) and is nicely treated judged on the pick of his 2017 form.
