"It will be disappointing if he isn't able to get the job done here..."

Timeform on Kessaar

17:35 - ANCIENT LONGING (2) has low mileage for a four-year-old and made a positive start for this yard when second in a big-field Chepstow handicap last month. The forecast quicker ground here poses a question but she may well go one better if handling the conditions. Lazarus was runner-up on his sole previous start here and will be a danger if on-song, while Carry Me Home has slipped to an attractive mark and could also be in the mix.

18:05 - Dropping to the minimum trip should suit DANDY LAD (1) and Across The Sea. The latter wasn't beaten far behind a smart filly on debut at Yarmouth and she went off too hard on the all-weather subsequently. Still, preference is for Dandy Man, who left his previous efforts well behind when runner-up at Lingfield and a reproduction of that would probably suffice. Vino Rosso is also worth a second look.

18:40 - This looks a good opportunity for KESSAAR (5) to open his account. He shaped with plenty of promise when second on debut at York, showing clear signs of inexperience, and not helped by taking a significant bump in the closing stages. He was well backed for the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot last time, but may have found that test coming too early in his development, and this represents a much easier task. It will be disappointing if he isn't able to get the job done here, though Ginger Fox is a likely type on paper and needs monitoring in the market.

19:15 - This looks wide open, but HUMAN NATURE (3) was clear of the rest when runner-up off this mark under this rider at Yarmouth recently, and could be the way to go off a competitive mark. He is now 5 lb below his last winning mark and a reproduction of his latest run may suffice here. HAN SOLO BERGER (11) is less exposed than most, and is also worth keeping on side. He appreciated the drop back to six furlongs at Kempton last time, and is up to winning races from this mark.

19:50 - HISTORY WRITER (5) has shaped well in minor events and is the type to improve further now handicapping up in trip. He was below form at Thirsk last time, but the form of his run at Nottingham before looks strong, and he should be up to defying a mark of 85. This looks competitive, though, with Quality Seeker making appeal also, having shaped as though ready for the step up to this trip when winning over a mile here last time.

20:20 - MAKAMBE (2) has improved with each run this season, opening his account at Chepstow 11 days ago, and he looks one to keep on the right side for the time being. That was a career best for him, and he should be able to defy a 4 lb higher mark. Choral Music is thriving at present so has to be respected, while Sounds Approving is worth a look in the betting on handicap bow back from a break.
