17:50 - A newcomers maiden is never an easy puzzle to solve, and the market will likely reveal more throughout the day, but it could pay to side with KEYNOTE (2) and STRATEGIC (7), who both represent powerful connections, and make appeal on paper too. The former in a full-brother to a useful two-year-old who made a winning debut over five furlongs at this course, so that bodes well, while the former represents Richard Hannon, who historically does well with his juveniles at this venue.

18:20 - EBTKAAR (2) has barely set the world alight in both his starts to date, but in the context of this race, he sets a pretty good standard. His nearest rival on form is Plutonian, though he was disappointing after attracting support at Salisbury last time and the feeling is that Roger Varian's charge can land the odds and open his account.

18:50 - Hughie Morrison's RUMPOLE (1) made a good impression when winning a C&D maiden last month and is worth forgiving his poor run since. The combination of him taking a keen hold and softer ground resulted in him fading late on at Doncaster last time, but much better is expected returned to a sound surface, and he is fancied to prove himself to be on a lenient mark. Meshaykh proved a different proposition on handicap debut at Leicester last time, but an 8 lb rise for that success could prevent him from following up.

19:20 - FAIR COP (6) was fully entitled to win his maiden over five furlongs here last month, but the manner in which she did it caught the eye. She travelled powerfully for the most part and put the race to bed in ready fashion when asked, and an opening mark of 82 could well underestimate this unexposed filly. Orpen Wide found only a good prospect (has since won again) too good here last time and he looks a danger with Andrea Atzeni up for the first time.

19:50 - Made To Remember very much caught the eye when making a winning debut at Nottingham, and she looks sure to be suited by this step up in trip, particularly on breeding, so rates a big danger with the likelihood of significant improvement on just her second start. However, MOUILLE POINT (4) showed improved form to make a winning handicap debut last time, and is one to keep on the right side for now. She showed a good attitude to narrowly prevail at Nottingham, and that form looks solid, so this well-bred filly is taken to follow up under Ryan Moore.

20:20 - SUSSEX RANGER (6) very much looks the type to make a better three-year-old, and he shaped encouragingly on return from six months off up in trip at Kempton last time. He's entitled to come on for that run and, though this looks a competitive handicap for the grade, he looks overpriced this morning, so is very much one to consider. Richard Hughes has his team in fine order and FOOTMAN (3) finished in front of Sussex Ranger last time, therefore his is also worth keeping on side.

20:50 - As previously mentioned, Richard Hughes' runners are flying at present, and he is taken to have another winner in the shape of ZAVIKON (6). He looked unlucky not to win on his turf debut at Yarmouth last month, travelling well and making headway when short of room two furlongs out, having to switch and staying on well in the closing stages only beaten half a length. Zavikon seems sure to keep on progressing and is one to be interested in off this sort of mark.

Recommendation:

Win back RUMPOLE (1) in the 18:50

Placepot permutation:

17:50 - 2, 7
18:20 - 2
18:50 - 1
19:20 - 6
19:50 - 4
20:20 - 3, 6
