Through The Card: Windsor, Monday 15 April
Timeform take you through the card at Windsor on Monday afternoon...
"..the strong pace forecast should suit, and the booking of Pat Cosgrave is an eye-catching one."
Timeform on Quick Recovery
14:00 - Windsor's opener is particularly competitive, so it may be worth taking a chance on QUICK RECOVERY (3) at the prices. She was unable to match last year's feat of making a winning reappearance when fifth at Lingfield last month, but that was still a respectable run, and she wasn't knocked around once her chance had ended. She's 5 lb higher than her last winning mark, but the strong pace forecast should suit, and the booking of Pat Cosgrave is an eye-catching one. As such, she's chanced to take this at the expense of the in-form Captain Ryan, who should relish the return to this trip, and Brockey Rise.
14:30 - All but one of the 14-strong field in this make their debuts, and while the claims of Archie Watson's Lambeth Walk are obvious, she's short enough in betting, meaning it may be worth taking a chance on WHISPERING LEAVES (7) at a much bigger price. She makes plenty of appeal on paper in her own right (closely related to 2-y-o 5f winner Dark Shadow), and considering her trainer has a 22% strike-rate here since 2015, it may be worth chancing that Whispering Leaves knows her job on debut at around the 16/1 mark this morning. Brazen Safa is another likely sort, in what could prove to be an informative contest.
15:00 - Another open-looking contest, in which FAIR COP (8) makes the most appeal. She failed to fire on all cylinders on her reappearance at Newcastle last month, finishing fourth, but that was her first run for 19 months, and she should be much sharper this time around. She's slipped to a handy mark, and is fancied to go close for the in-form Andrew Balding team. Puds produced her best effort yet when scoring on debut for Richard Hughes at Chelmsford last month and is respected, while Enthaar and King Robert are two more to consider.
15:30 - ALBERT FINNEY (3) showed improved form to resume winning ways over today's trip at Lingfield last month, confirming the promise that he had been showing without winning on two starts previous, and relishing the return to front-running tactics to score by just over a lengths. He ought to prove just as effective over a mile and a half when the time comes this term, but has obvious claims of following up here under a 5 lb penalty, and looks worth siding with for his in-form connections with more improvement likely. Little Rock wasn't knocked about when runner-up on handicap debut at Lingfield last time, and rates as a big threat if taking to turf.
16:00 - This could develop into a match race between Telecaster and DEAL A DOLLAR (5). Preference is for the latter, who was unfancied in the betting for his debut at Kempton in December, but showed plenty to work with when finishing a close second, running green inside the final two furlongs but keeping on well to the line. The son of Frankel looks sure to improve with that initial run now under his belt, and he is fancied to take this with the in-form Ryan Moore booked to ride. Ginistrelli is best of the rest.
16:30 - Yet another race which could prove tricky to solve. The vote goes to RUN AFTER GENESIS (7), who was much improved when winning at Kempton on his reappearance/handicap debut last month, digging deep under pressure to pick up the lead in the dying strides, and he looks set to go well again having been raised just 4 lb - with the return to 1m sure to suit. Sukalia and Antidote are a couple of others to consider.
17:00 - KIRKLAND FOREVER (4) was a regular down at Brighton last season, and she enjoyed a productive time, picking up two wins in the autumn. She ran creditably in her bid for a hat-trick on her final start at the same track in October, only just failing, and off 6 lb higher here, she's taken to pick up where she left off with victory for a yard who are more than capable of readying one first time up. Lingfield-winner Amaretto and Broad Appeal are a couple of others to consider.
