17:50 - SPOOF (5) did plenty in the early stages of his debut at Newbury last month but deserves credit for getting himself into contention despite that, before his effort inevitably flattened out. He should progress from that and looks the safest Placepot option.

18:20 - This is tricky. Though she was well backed for her return at Pontefract last time, it is conceivable that ALWAYS THANKFUL (4) will come on for her run for six months, and she remains of interest based on the form of her Chelmsford fifth, which is a race that has produced plenty of winners. BAHAMIAN PARADISE (15) has progressed steadily throughout her three maiden starts and remains open to further improvement on her handicap debut today. The one who beat her at Bath last time has won again since, and Oisin Murphy is a positive jockey booking.

18:50 - RUMPOLE (8) shaped well in a maiden at Newbury last time, finishing fourth (beaten just over two lengths) despite looking in need of experience and not being well positioned given how the race unfolded. Though the form of that race is yet to be tested, it appealed as an above-average maiden, and Rumpole looks the one to beat here if building on that.

19:20 - This is wide open. Chiefofchiefs sets the standard but has to give weight away to some interesting three-year-olds including SEA SKIMMER (13), who was fifth in a race at Newbury on debut which has worked out well since. This sort of trip should suit him, and he is expected to take a step forward here. CLEMENTO (5) is also set to be suited by the step up in trip based on his pedigree (plenty of stamina on dam's side and is related to a smart stayer) and is expected to be much more competitive here than he was on debut when trained by Richard Hughes.

19:50 - Prendergast Hill has won here and ran well enough last time out, but with a few unexposed four-year-olds to contend with here, he looks vulnerable as favourite. SHARGIAH (1) should be suited by the step up to this trip on pedigree and is worth including for a yard going great guns at present, while at a bigger price the bet in the race could well be CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS (5), who had been progressing well on the all-weather prior to being too free at Lingfield last time. He is worth another chance with Richard Kingscote taking over in the saddle.

20:20 - CAPE DISCOVERY (1) won a couple of handicaps here last season and may well come on for his reappearance here last time where he made the running. Down in grade slightly, he makes some appeal. GIVEAWAY GLANCE (4) will need to settle a bit better but also makes some appeal now reverting back to the Flat having run well over hurdles last time at Warwick.

Recommendation:

Win back CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS in the 19:50

Placepot permutation:

17:50 - 5
18:20 - 4, 15
18:50 - 8
19:20 - 5, 13
19:50 - 1, 5
20:20 - 1, 4
