Nick Shiambouros is back with a couple of fancies from Haydock and Lingfield...
"He has a bit to find at the weights, but I think he is sitting on a big effort"
Newtide to swoop
12:50 Haydock - Newtide
Newtide looks like the horse to beat in this maiden hurdle.
This gelding created a favourable impression on hurdles debut when finishing fourth to Deise Aba at Chepstow last month. He put in some solid work in the closing stages, and finished the race with good energy. The winner looks a decent sort, and time may tell he faced an impossible task. I think he is open to a fair bit of improvement and is reasonably priced at [3.5] on the exchange.
Phillip Hobbs sends out point winner Halloween Harry who makes his Rules debut. The stable is going well at present and this gelding will be ready to do himself justice. He is the current favourite at [3.4] on the exchange.
Goring Goring Gone
13:00 Lingfield - Goring
I am going to take a chance with Goring in this interesting contest.
This gelding loves it round here having won four times. Last time out at Wolverhampton he finished second to Greatest Journey. He ran on strongly inside the final furlong, but could not get to grips with the determined winner. He has a bit to find at the weights, but I think he is sitting on a big effort. At present he is trading at [6.8] on the exchange.
The well travelled Toast Of York heads the market at [2.38] on the exchange. This popular gelding finished a distant fourth to Rocketry in the Group 2 Marathon at Churchill Downs last month. He is the clear form pick and won this race last year. If he runs his race he will be tough. At present he is trading at [2.38] on the exchange.
