Nick Shiambouros had no luck yesterday when his best bet Final Venture was narrowly beaten after missing the break. Nick returns with two selections from Ludlow...
"Her jumping has let her down over the larger obstacles, and this race should boost her confidence and hopefully bounce back to form"
Peculiar Places is an interesting runner in this maiden hurdle.
This gelding beat Totterdown in a bumper at Hereford last month. He made all the running, and pulled clear inside the final furlong to win decisively. He hit a couple of flat spots during the race but should know more on his hurdles debut. I think he has a future, and represents good value at his current price of [10.5] on the Exchange. In addition, the stable is going well which is a bonus.
Indian Hawk heads the market at [3.8]. After his impressive Irish point win last May, he changed hands for a pretty penny and now represents high profile connections. He will be ready to do himself justice on Rules debut, but is priced accordingly.
Sainte Ladylime should go close in this mares only handicap hurdle.
This mare has had mixed success over fences, but managed to win a novices' chase at Uttoxeter in November. Her jumping has let her down over the larger obstacles, and this race should help her confidence and hopefully bounce back to form. She has been placed in Listed company at Cheltenham in the past, which reads well in the context of this race. At present she is trading at [4.7] on the Exchange.
Favourite Ellens Way is trading at [2.84]. She was a wide margin winner at Fontwell on Boxing Day, but does have to carry a penalty. She is also unproven over the distance which is a slight concern
