Nick Shiambouros is back with a couple of selections from the card at Warwick...
"Last March she won a handicap at Fontwell in great style which reads well in the context of this race"
15:50 Warwick - Springhill Lad
Springhill Lad could run well at a big price in this long distance hurdle.
This lightly raced individual finished put in a much improved effort last time out when finishing third to Extreme Impact at Warwick in December. He put in some good work in the closing stages, and finished the race with good energy.
I think the safest option is to back him in the place market at around 3.02/1.
Ceann Sibheal is the current favourite at 4.57/2. He was a wide margin winner in testing conditions at Lingfield earlier this month, but did not look straightforward. He was chased along at times during the race, but eventually consented to put his best foot forward. I have little interest in backing him at this price and is easily passed over.
16:20 Warwick - Jean Fleming
I am going to take a chance on Jean Fleming in this competitive looking mares only handicap hurdle.
This mare has been a little disappointing lately but has some decent form in the book. Last March she won a handicap at Fontwell in great style which reads well in the context of this race. She has yet to recapture her true form, but perhaps racing with the blinkers for the first time may have the desired effect.
She is currently trading at 12.011/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Dan Skelton sends out The Last Bar who is the favourite at 4.03/1. She finished a decent second to Muthabir at Doncaster and comes in to this race in good order.
