Bar A Mine has his first run for Nigel Twiston-Davies

Alan's has two selections today, a debutant runner for the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard at Perth and rookie trainer to keep an eye on with a runner at Redcar...

"Off a mark of 104 over the extended two miles seven furlongs today, this could be the time to get with him"

15:30 Perth - Bar A Mine

Bar A Mine didn't get very far on his chase debut last season when he fell at the fourth fence. He was, though, sent off the 4/1 favourite for the three mile chase after good market support for the then Alan King-trained runner. Prior to that race the horse was trained by Paul Nicholls, so he is doing the rounds of the top yards.

Today he runs for the first time for the Nigel Twiston-Davies with son Sam in the Saddle. The Twiston-Davies yard are in good form, there could well be market support again for the six-year-old gelding, it hasn't quite come yet but he has traded ten times more on the exchange than any other runner in the field (as at 8am). Off a mark of 104 over the extended two miles seven furlongs today, this could be the time to get with him, he is still available (at the time of writing) at 5.59/2 on the Exchange.

17:35 Redcar - Instill

Instill is seeking a hat-trick of wins, the three-year-old gelding has gone up another 8lbs for his second win at Windsor last time out but the trainer could well have found another good race for him here. Ivan Furtado has already had 11 winners in his rookie year, a strike rate of 24%. It is clear already that the Brazilian, who has worked with Alan McCabe and Roger Charlton before taking the plunge and going alone this year, knows what he is doing.

Instill followed up his Haydock win at the beginning of August with that win at Windsor last time, being described as "eased toward the finish" from Timeform there could still be more to come from him. However, this race is competitive but with champion jockey-elect Silvestre De Sousa (also Brazilian) on board it is an interesting combination.
