All roads lead to York for the start of the Ebor meeting. Nick Shiambouros has two strong fancies from the Knavesmire...
"York is a good track to win from the front, and I suspect he will employ similar tactics"
Back Wells Farhh Go in the 15:00 at York
Wells to win again
15:00 York - Wells Farhh Go
Wells Farhh Go should go close in this fascinating contest.
I have been a fan of this talented colt for a while. Last time out at HQ he was most impressive when beating Loxley in a Group 3. Employing different tactics, he made all the running and found plenty in the closing stages to win with authority. York is a good track to win from the front, and I suspect he will employ similar tactics. At present he is trading at 6.25/1 which is more than fair.
Cross Counter is the short priced favourite at 2.6613/8. He won the Gordon Stakes in great style at Goodwood, and comes in to this race at the top of his game. This is tougher, but clearly has more to offer and is the main danger.
Take the Word of the Poet
15:35 York - Poet's Word
Poet's Word should prove difficult to beat in this mouthwatering race.
This five-year-old has had a fantastic summer, winning the Price Of Wales's and the King George at Ascot. He has developed in to a very smart performer, and comes in to this race with the best form on offer. He is getting better with age, and Sir Michael Stoute has conditioned him superbly. At present he is trading at 2.568/5 which is just about right.
Roaring Lion beat Saxon Warrior a neck in the Eclipse, and there should be little between them again.
Benbatl has done nothing wrong all year and is a lively outsider at 11.010/1 on the exchange.
