Nick Shiambouros was out of luck yesterday when both his selections finished in the money but could not find the winners enclosure. Nick is hoping for better fortune today with two strong fancies from Nottingham and Kempton...
"He looks like the big improver in this race, and should cap a big day for the yard"
13:00 Nottingham - Come On Tier
Come On Tier should go close in this interesting maiden.
This colt created a favourable impression on debut when finishing third to Delsheer at Windsor earlier this month. He missed the break, but put in some excellent work in the closing stages and finished the race with good energy. His sire Kendargent does well with youngsters and this one looks like he has a future. I have backed him at his current price of 5.24/1 on the exchange.
The favourite is debutant Ispolini who is trading at 2.1411/10 on the exchange. He cost a small fortune at the sales, and is out of a dam that won a Grade 2 at Belmont Park and is a half-brother to Playful Sound.
17:25 Kempton - Te Koop
Te Koop is taken to land this novice auction.
This gelding made his debut on the Tapeta at Newcastle last month. He finished second to Champirisi despite not looking fully wound up. Trainer David Simcock trained his dam Miss You Too who was Listed class on the flat. He looks like the big improver in this race, and should cap a big day for the yard. At present he is trading at 4.3100/30 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Pompey Chimes heads the market at 2.568/5. He finished second to Groundnut in a modest Brighton maiden last month. The winner was soundly beaten on his next start, and I am surprised to see this gelding trading at such a short price. I am a layer not a backer.
