Nick Shiambouros is back with a couple of strong fancies from Catterick and Lingfield...
"This was his best piece of form to date, and further improvement is expected"
Horatio to Star for Meehan
I am going to take a chance with Horatio Star in this maiden.
This gelding created a favourable impression on debut when finishing fifth to Jamih at Sandown last month. He was caught a little flat footed when the pace lifted two from home, and failed to land a blow. Trainer Brian Meehan knows the family well, having trained his half-brother Star Of Light who was a useful handicapper. I think he will benefit from the extra yardage, and is reasonably priced at [4.8] on the exchange.
Artarmon heads the market at [3.05]. He sets a fair standard, but has looked a little one paced in the past. The visor is fitted today, but I am not convinced it will do the trick. Not for me.
Prince to shine
Prince Of Rome is my idea of the winner of this interesting contest.
This colt finished second to Quiet Endeavour at Chelmsford last month. He ran on well inside the final furlong, but could not get to grips with the easy winner. This was his best piece of form to date, and further improvement is expected. He is fairly priced at [4.2] on the exchange.
The filly Quiet Waters is the favourite at [2.98] on the exchange. She won a similar event on debut from Delft Dancer, but does have to carry a penalty for that success which could prove problematic.
