Bets Of The Day: Newtown Boy to bounce back
Nick Shiambouros had a winner and a second who traded at [1.07] in running yesterday. Nick returns with a selection from Nottingham and one from Warwick...
"He beat the progressive Rouge Vif last November, and a reproduction of that effort would be more than enough to take this"
King to rule
13:30 Nottingham - King Ademar
King Ademar looks like the one to be on in this novice stakes.
This Scat Daddy colt put in a much improved effort when finishing second to Bell Rock at HQ last October. He ran on strongly inside the final furlong, and finished the race with good energy. The stable is going well at the moment, and this well related individual should prove difficult to beat. At present he is trading at [2.92] which is just about right.
Sir Michael Stoute sends out Mokammal who is trading at [5.3] on the exchange. He finished second to subsequent Group 3 winner Estihdaaf at Leicester on debut, and has every right to improve.
Boy to become a man
15:15 Warwick - Newtown Boy
Newtown Boy can cause the mild upset in this novices' hurdle.
In truth this gelding was a little disappointing when finishing second to Esprit Du Large at Hereford last month. He held every chance two from home, but failed to quicken and was easily brushed aside. He beat the progressive Rouge Vif last November, and a reproduction of that effort would be more than enough to take this. At present he is trading at [4.0] on the exchange.
Elusive Belle represents the Nicky Henderson yard. She was outclassed when finishing down the field in the mares only Grade 2 at the Festival, and will find this company more to her liking. I am concerned the Cheltenham race may have left a mark , and her current price of [1.74] represents poor value in my opinion.
