"He's on a workable mark judged on his exploits in handicaps last term and, with his yard going along nicely, he is fancied to make a winning return..."
13:00 - French bumper winner DAME DE COMPAGNIE (1) looks a very interesting recruit for Nicky Henderson having shown plenty of ability in France and could prove hard to beat here. He sets the standard on form, and achieved more in bumpers than interesting hurdling debutants Passing Call and Tangoed.
13:35 - WHO'S MY JOCKEY (14) finished third behind a promising type on his hurdling debut over two miles at this course last month and he will remain of interest now stepping up in trip. He was well backed that day, and shaped as though he'd come on for the experience, so he seems sure to progress. FLEMINPORT (7) is another who showed enough to suggest he's up to winning a race of this nature last time so is also considered. He should also be suited by this step up in trip and these two look the ones to focus on.
14:10 - Juvenile KENYAN (8) receives a hefty weight-for-age allowance against his elders and has made a really positive start to life in handicap hurdles, his recent Plumpton win appealing as strong form for the grade. He is taken to defy a penalty, with Dragon Khan perhaps the main threat on debut for a new yard. Of the rest, Maid of Tuscany should give it a good shot.
14:45 - Short on numbers but high on quality with last year's Supreme third River Wylde making his chasing debut. However, HELL'S KITCHEN (1) looks all over a chaser and is expected to build considerably on his chasing debut at Ascot last November. He wasn't given a hard time that day and this big horse appeals as the type to take high rank in the novice chase division this season.
15:20 - A difficult race to assess but there is no doubt BIG MEADOW (3) arrives on a workable mark judged on his exploits in handicaps last term and, with his yard going along nicely, he is fancied to make a winning return. Ephraim's absence is an obvious concern but he similarly represents a yard among the winners, and any market support would have to be taken seriously.
15:55 - MAID OF MILAN (2) is already a better chaser than hurdler judged on her winning start over fences after 12 months off at Newton Abbot 3 weeks ago and looks capable of following up if this doesn't come too soon. He jumped well in the main that day and showed a willing attitude to win by four and a half lengths and appeals as the type to improve further still. Shine Away arrives at the top of her game and is the obvious threat.
