Timeform's US team pick out their three best bets for Wednesday night's stateside action...
"Dirt suits Halo Labest, and she returns to it now. She is expected to have too much early pace for Majesticnightrider and too much late pace for that one and the others...."
Hawthorne 23:20 - Reinvested
Pricing up horses shipping in from distant courses can be problematical in the US, and by our reckoning the Morning Line at Hawthorne may have got one such horse wrong in race 8, a $21k 6f allowance due off at 23:20 GMT. The horse in question is Reinvested, who comes out top on Timeform form-based ratings but is only fourth in on the betting forecast. Reinvested has been plying her trade at Arlington and Keeneland, and to good effect, winning on the latter course last time in a race in which the third has gone in since. That was a return to dirt from synthetics, and Reinvested has now won three times on today's surface. Indian Artifact and Miss Darla may be Reinvested's biggest rivals in a race in which there promises to be plenty of pace. Reinvested could well track that pace and be delivered when it matters.
Woodbine 23:45 - Ritzy Lass
The opener at Woodbine (due off at 23:45) features an intriguing clash between Ritzy Lass and Weekend In Malibu. The pair met here in August, when Ritzy Lass put her experience to good use in defeating Weekend In Malibu by two and a half lengths, but the latter almost certainly improved for that debut when winning back here in September. In the meantime, Ritzy Lass has been heavily beaten, admittedly in stronger company. The betting forecast seems to have it wrong in favouring Ritzy Lass, and it may also have underestimated Quidi Vidi, who arguably has the best form of all, including in Grade 3 company. The percentage call seems to be to lay Ritzy Lass in such circumstances.
Delta Downs 03:05 - Halo La
Halo La can be backed by night owls to get back to winning ways in race 8 at Delta Downs (due off at 03:05 GMT). The daughter of Popular certainly knows how to win, having visited the winner's circle five times already this term, and she can be easily forgiven a rare below-par effort last time, which came on an unsuitable turf surface: dirt suits her best, and she returns to it now. Halo La is expected to have too much early pace for Majesticnightrider and too much late pace for that one and the others.
