Timeform's US team pick out the best bets on Wednesday.
"...the percentage call in the circumstances is to lay the Morning Line favourite Just A Pup who has to break from the outside stall."
With Aqueduct and Woodbine looking short of betting opportunities our first selection comes from Mountaineer where the second race (00:22 GMT) can go to Santelli, who looks to have been priced up generously on the Morning Line. The son of Mizzen Mast is a well-bred individual to be racing at this sort of level and recorded his best figures since finishing third in an allowance event last autumn when winning over course and distance last time by six lengths. This race isn't a great deal tougher - the level of the opposition he faces is only around 4 lb stronger by our estimation - and he promises to get an ideal tow into the race from his inside draw behind what seems certain to be a strong pace.
At Delta Downs Captain Tyree looks worth backing against the forecast favourite Red Hot Half in the third race, a maiden claimer for two-year-olds over six and a half furlongs (00:45 GMT). Red Hot Half was second on his debut last month in a similar event over five furlongs, but that race was run in a slow time and Captain Tyree has better figures by our reckoning from his two efforts here and at Evangeline Downs. The better of his two efforts came at this sort of trip, and it looks significant that he is being dropped back in distance today from a mile having seemed to not last home last time.
In the fourth race (01:13 GMT) at Delta Downs, a low-level five-furlong claimer, Make Mine Cash and Ima Smash Oak renew rivalry having finished second and third in a similar event here last time. It's tough to pick between them, with Make Mine Cash slightly favoured because he is drawn inside Ima Smash Oak on this occasion, so the percentage call in the circumstances is to lay the Morning Line favourite Just A Pup who has to break from the outside stall. He has a couple of lengths to make up as we see it, might well end up in a pace duel and this isn't obviously an easier race than the higher-level claimer he contested (and finished fourth in) last time.
