Timeform's US team pick out their three best bets on Wednesday.
"Considering the number of runners, race 4 at Belmont (19:53 BST) isn’t particularly competitive and Tempered Threat is one of just a few who come here in form."
It appeared that the powerful Todd Pletcher barn had more or less given up on Againsome when this expensive purchase was plunged into $35k maiden claiming company last time, but he won well that day and could belatedly start fulfilling his potential. It's encouraging that he isn't risked in claiming company again, and this starter allowance contest (race 3 Belmont, 19:22 BST) looks the ideal next step on the road to trying something a bit more illustrious next time.
Considering the number of runners, race 4 at Belmont (19:53 BST) isn't particularly competitive and Tempered Threat is one of just a few who come here in form. His early speed is a big tactical asset too, and he should make full use of that from stall 2 as he attempts to record his second win in succession for the red-hot Gary Gullo stable. There are others in here with a bit of early toe, but Tempered Threat appears to be the quickest, and he should be able to clear them.
Athletica recorded a win last time out, but that was a very weak event, and she faces a much stiffer task in race 9 at Mountaineer (03:04 BST). There are plenty who can be given chances in this race, and the drop back in distance from six to five furlongs is not likely to be in Athletica's favour either. Her forecast price of 3.55/2 is on the short side, and she is a lay at anything around that price.
