Timeform's US team select three bets from Delaware on Wednesday.
"The highlight of Delaware’s card is the Hockessin Stakes at 20:57 BST, and also produces the best bet of the day in Immortal Eyes."
The $30k claimer that Mandola finished second in last time was, in form terms, actually weaker than the $45k claimer he contests at Delaware today (race 4, 19:36 BST). Mandola was also a little way below his best that day, and should take a great deal of beating in this lesser race. His best effort on Timeform form ratings actually came two starts ago when fourth in a strong claimer at Gulfstream, and a reproduction of either of those last two efforts could well be good enough to seal today's contest.
Race 6 at Delaware (20:30 BST) is a wide-open turf allowance event, and at least four or five are in with a realistic chance of winning. The horses with the best form are Implied, Green Wave Girl and Red Hot Tweet. Samiam has a bit to find with these three on Timeform form ratings, and therefore looks a bit on the short at 4.5 on the Morning Line forecast. With plenty running for us, she's worth laying at around that price.
The highlight of Delaware's card is the Hockessin Stakes at 20:57 BST, and also produces the best bet of the day in Immortal Eyes. A model of consistency, Immortal Eyes hasn't been out of the first two in his last eight starts, and despite being nine years of age, his form shows little sign of waning. Throw in a trainer change to the excellent David Jacobson, and we have the makings of a great value bet at around 5.5. Jacobson does make things slightly tricky in that he also fields Morning Line favourite Royal Currier, but Immortal Eyes' form just looks stronger.
