Timeform's US team pick out the best bets on Wednesday.
"Silver Crusader won a maiden claimer here in December and has finished second on its last two outings but those defeats came at very short prices and he can be opposed again..."
Hockley is second favourite in the fourth race (19.57 BST) at Turf Paradise, a claimer over the extended mile on the turf, but whether he deserves to be as short as 3 in the forecast betting is another matter. He is consistent, certainly, finishing second in his last three races on the surface, but he faces a very tough in-form opponent in A Day Away who is taking a drop in grade besides a couple of other lively dangers. Odds of around 4 would seem to be nearer the mark.
Back at Turf Paradise having run creditably in a Listed event at Sunland Park last time, Omar can resume winning ways in the seventh race (21.30 BST), a claimer over six furlongs. He has run to or within 3lb of his current Timeform rating in five of his last six runs, four of which have been here, and that form is around 8lb better than anything else in the field can boast. Indeed, this is an easier assignment than he has faced in most of those races and forecast odds of 3.5 look on the generous side.
Silver Crusader won a maiden claimer here in December and has finished second on its last two outings but those defeats came at very short prices and he can be opposed again in the last race (22.10 BST) at Tampa Bay. The switch to turf probably won't bother him as there's little between his best dirt and grass form but there are several against him in a large field with clearly better form and on his first start for a new trainer arguably less capable than his last, this step up in class will probably find him out again.
