Timeform's US team suggest bets from Mountaineer and Presque Isle Downs on Tuesday...
Colton's Rose appears to have a tough task in race 5 at Presque Isle Downs (00:05 BST), and is worth opposing at the likely price. On the face of it, this appears to be the weakest field she has faced in her career so far, but even this modest opposition look like they'll have too many guns for her. Her pace-pressing style is not ideal either, given that she should have competition for the early lead from Renee.
Under normal circumstances, recommending a bet on an eleven-year-old cheap claiming horse that has been off the track for seven months wouldn't be the way to go, but Bold Peaks is trained by the master of Mountaineer, Bart Baird, who has an exceptional record with horses returning from this type of layoff. Another plus is that Bold Peaks could well get an uncontested lead in race 6 (01:55 BST), and looks worth chancing at around 5.0.
The strongest selection of the day again comes from Mountaineer and is Williston Drive in race 8 (02:41 BST). This three-year-old filly has never been out of the first two in five starts, and this allowance event is hers for the taking if she reproduces the form she showed when second in a similar two weeks ago. Her main dangers are both older horses who probably don't possess the same scope as her, and she is a confident choice.
