"On form, there is little between Trippi’s Secret and Tyzach in race 2 at Penn National..."
It's not often a horse that is forecast to go off at 20/1 catches our attention, but there is just such a runner in the turf allowance contest that is carded as race 6 at Hawthorne (21:15 GMT). Zero Game was mixing it with stakes horses at the likes of Monmouth and Churchill Downs earlier this year, acquitting himself particularly well when beaten just four lengths by G2 winner Tannery. This son of High Chaparral has changed hands several times since, while racing on Tapeta, which probably isn't his ideal surface. His latest fastest of 41 workout suggests that there is still life in Zero Game, and it would be a surprise were he to go off quite as big as his forecast odds. A small bet is advised at anything around 10/1.
The following race at Hawthorne (21:45 GMT), a six-furlong claimer on the dirt, looks a good opportunity for Switchen Er Up to go one better than her runner-up finish last time. Normally a front runner, Switchen Er Up was slowly away that day but did well to get up for second place. With a faster start today, she should be capable of turning the tables on Ganesha, the filly who beat her last time. Morning Line favourite Lydia's Angel should give another good account, but this is a deeper race than the one she won last time out.
On form, there is little between Trippi's Secret and Tyzach in race 2 at Penn National (22:27 GMT), an allowance contest on the dirt, but the value call looks to be with the speedier Trippi's Secret. An all-the-way winner by over seven lengths last time out, Trippi's Secret looks to be the controlling speed in this contest, whereas Tyzach is a an off-the-pace type and may just be getting fully into stride by the time this extended five-furlong race is all but over.
