Timeform US SmartPlays: Sunday September 28

Tonight's three bets run at Belmont Park
Tonight's three bets run at Belmont Park

Timeform's US team bring you three bets from Belmont on Sunday...

All of today's US SmartPlays come from Belmont, the first in race 6 (20:25 BST), an 8.5f dirt allowance contest for New York-breds. Gridley Here has made only one dirt start so far in a seven-race career, resulting in a very good second-place finish. The majority of Gridley Here's runs have come on turf but there is definite untapped potential on dirt, as evidenced by that good effort two starts ago. Today's opposition isn't the most taxing and he should go very close.

The eighth race on the card (21:27 BST), a one-mile allowance contest on the dirt, looks a good opportunity for Quick Money to get back on track after finding stakes company a bit beyond him last time. Prior to that, Quick Money had been in good form, winning three out four races at allowance level, and the return to the allowance ranks seems ideal. With an outside draw, Quick Money seems ideally placed for one with his tracking style.

The Pilgrim Stakes (race 9, 21:58 BST), an 8.5f turf contest that serves as a prep race for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, features the most exciting two-year-old seen on the grass so far this year in the US, Startup Nation. After a comfortable win in maiden company, Startup Nation then recorded a facile win at Grade 2 level, racing wide before drawing clear readily. He is fully expected to take this before heading to Santa Anita.

Belmont race 8 (21:27 BST) win back #10 QUICK MONEY at 4.3100/30 or longer
Belmont race 9 (21:58 BST) win back #2 STARTUP NATION at 2.89/5 or longer
