Timeform's US team pick out three bets from Belmont on Sunday night...
"Spring To The Sky has been running in better company than most of his rivals of late, showing useful form..."
Most of the field in race 2 at Belmont (18:51 BST) tend to race prominently and that should play into the hands of Deadicated Deal, who has joined Rudy Rodriguez after being claimed from Philip Serpe's stable last time. Deadicated Deal won a maiden at Saratoga last year and put up two good efforts in defeat at Aqueduct this spring. He is taken to bounce back after a below-par effort here last month. His chief dangers on the ratings are Cool Cat Tale, who was slightly disappointing here last time, having won a maiden claimer on just his second start; and Ice Wagon who has run well at around a mile at this track on his last two outings but who now steps back down to six furlongs.
There are a couple of names that will be familiar to European racegoers in race 7, an optional claimer over six furlongs, at Belmont (21:26 BST). The former Lady Cecil-trained Morpheus ran respectably over course and distance last time but the trip is a bit on the sharp side for him and, even at his best, has something to find on the ratings. The Brothers War was a listed race winner in France before finishing down the field in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, his last race in Europe. He hasn't been at his best in three races in the States, but a drop back down from seven furlongs will be in his favour. However, Spring To The Sky has been running in better company than most of his rivals of late, showing useful form. A stumble at the start of the Grade 3 Jaipur Stakes over course and distance last time didn't help matters but he still ran well for a long way, and this drop in class will be in his favour.
Three fillies stand out in race 8 at Belmont (21:57 BST), the Victory Ride Stakes (Grade 3) for three-year-old fillies. Only Milam has proven form in graded company, having run Fiftyshadesofgold to half a length in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs last time, forced to race wide but sticking to her task well behind the winner, who was a good fourth in the Acorn Stakes next time. Both Isabelle and Miss Behaviour made the running when successful in non-graded stakes races last time, Isabelle over a slightly longer trip here and Miss Behaviour showing improved form at Pimlico, and they could set up the race for Milam.
