Timeform's US team pick out the best bets on Sunday.
"The best bet on Aqueduct’s card is Brass Pear in the allowance contest carded as race 6 (19:45 GMT)."
The most intriguing races on today's Tampa Bay Downs card are a pair of maidens, races 4 and 5. Race 4 is a weak maiden claimer which sees top trainer Nick Zito send out Ignatius, who comes here following a long layoff. Last seen finishing third in a stronger contest than this at Belmont Park in July, Ignatius should be pretty forward having posted three works in the last month on the Tampa Bay track. Still a maiden after five starts, he won't get an easier opportunity to break his duck.
Our next selection, in the following race (race 5, 19:22 GMT), is a bit more speculative, but there are sound reasons for thinking that Spearhead could be considerably better than he has shown in two starts to date. Trained by turf specialist Christophe Clement, it is no surprise that Spearhead has only raced on grass so far, showing little, but he is very much bred for dirt being by Breeders' Cup Champion Speightstown. He should step up considerably on the main track.
The best bet on Aqueduct's card is Brass Pear in the allowance contest carded as race 6 (19:45 GMT). Brass Pear goes first-off-the-claim for prolific trainer Michelle Nevin, and looks to be the controlling speed from his outside post. An impressive winner last time out, Brass Pear should make it two wins on the spin, probably at the chief expense of Bruce Brown's Giantinthemoonlite, who has been running creditably but usually find one or two too good.
