Timeform's US team pick out their three best bets for Friday night....
"Queen Anna looks a good bet in the $4k claimer carded as five-year-old-mare is making her first start for new trainer Timothy Hooper..."
Tampa Bay Downs 18:20 - Joe Tess
Joe Tess has been flying too high recently and will appreciate dropping back into the allowance ranks in race 3 at Tampa Bay Downs. Derek Ryan's charge has not been disgraced in Grade 3 and Listed company in his last two starts, but hasn't really threatened, and he is back at a much more suitable level today. His main danger looks to be Bourbonize, but that one has only made sporadic appearances over the last few months, and is entitled to need this after yet another layoff.
Penn National 02:10 - Queen Anna
Over at Penn National, Queen Anna looks a good bet in the $4k claimer carded as race 8. This five-year-old-mare is making her first start for new trainer Timothy Hooper, who has a very good record with horses making their first start in his care. Queen Anna also looks like the dominant speed in this particular contest and she could well dictate matters on the front end.
Penn National 02:37 - Tahaddi [LAY]
Our final selection is in the closer at Penn National, a twelve-runner, $5k claimer, which is predicted to be run at a fast pace based on the TimeformUS Pace Projector. That fact could mitigate against Morning Line favourite Tahaddi, who tends to do his best work close to the lead. With several others in the field with similar run-styles, it could well be that Tahaddi is vulnerable in the latter stages of this contest.
Tampa Bay Downs race 3 (18:20 GMT) win back #1 JOE TESS @ 3.39/4 or longer
Penn National race 8 (02:10 GMT) win back #4 QUEEN ANNA @ 4.03/1 or longer
