Timeform's US team pick out their three best bets for Monday night's stateside action...
"Inspeight has been in good form at the current meet, winning twice from five starts..."
On a tricky winner-finding day, the best bet looks like it could come in race 5 at Presque Isle Downs (00:05 BST), a starter allowance contest an extended five furlongs. Inspeight has been in good form at the current meet, winning twice from five starts, his only real disappointment coming when he failed to stay a mile two starts ago. This sprint distance is much more in his favour, and with at least two or three front-runners in opposition, Inspeight should be able to get a perfect stalking trip, before pouncing late.
In the next race at Presque Isle Downs (00:30 BST), a $16k claimer over a mile, Mindfulness is taking a big class-drop after running creditably in an allowance race last time. This five-year-old mare's last win came at a similar level to this back in May, and she has gone on to better that performance subsequently. Mindfulness makes plenty of appeal in a race lacking depth, and anything around her Morning Line forecast of 6.05/1 would be well worth taking.
Today's final selection is a lay in race 5 at Mountaineer (01:32 BST), a five-and-a-half furlong claimer on the dirt track. Matty's Avenger was second in a similar contest last time, but got a long way behind that day before running on through beaten horses. Today's race doesn't look like it has a great deal of pace in it, and if Matty's Avenger were to get behind again it's unlikely he'd be able to make up a similar amount of ground. He should be taken on at anything around 4.57/2.
