Timeform's US team bring you a bet from three different venues on Monday...
It's debateable whether the Morning Line for the fourth race (20:46 GMT) at Turf Paradise properly reflects the chances of the participants and a lay of favourite Teddy The Bear is advised. The son of America's Storm regularly switches between dirt and turf, and has finished first and second in his last two starts on the grass, but his form on dirt pales by comparison. Forecast third favourite Square Dancer was good enough to finish second on the dirt at Santa Anita back in the spring and is as good as Teddy The Bear on turf, while forecast second favourite Square Dancer has superior dirt form. Unless he raises his dirt game considerably, Teddy The Bear looks vulnerable.
Halo La has been installed as the favourite for the eighth race at Delta Downs and brings multiple winning form to the table, but the filly has a worthy adversary in the shape of Basketball Bella and she is taken to make all the running. The six-year-old mare went off too hard last time on her first start for Karl Broberg, but he has an excellent record with horses running for the second time in his care, and this looks an easier opening than several she has faced recently. Indeed, the last twice she has faced this calibre of opponent - as measured by Timeform's unique proxy ratings, something akin to an official BHA mark - she hasn't been for catching and hopefully that will be the case again today.
The feature at Sunland Park is an allowance race for New Mexico-bred two-year-old fillies over five and a half furlongs and looks to provide a good opportunity for Truth In Science to follow up her win in a maiden at Zia Park last time. That race was run in a good time and was over six furlongs, but the slight drop back in trip shouldn't be an issue here as she was given a patient ride last time before easing clear and the likely pace make-up of this race suggests that the front runners may well end up taking each other on. Her win last time came on the back of a five-month break, that race presumably a pipeopener for this more prestigious contest, and the Morning Line 5 forecast looks quite generous.
