Timeform's US team bring you the three best bets from Turf Paradise on Monday...
Elusive Moment is a consistent enough type, but hasn't run that often since winning in May, and was a vet scratch when scheduled to run two weeks ago....
On a quiet day in the US, we head to Turf Paradise for a trio selections, the first of which comes in the third race (21:53 GMT), a six-and-half furlong allowance contest on the main track. Twenty Percent was a winner of a claimer on his last start at Santa Anita and was purchased out of that race by new trainer Mark Glatt. The Glatt barn has an exceptional record with new acquisitions, and with Twenty Percent already possessing the best form in the race, a forecast price of 4/1 possibly underestimates this one's chances.
The following race (22:21 GMT), a $10k turf claimer, can fall the way of another first-off-the-claim runner, this time for the Robertino Diodoro barn. Rare Courage was claimed off his current barn two starts ago, but the wily Diodoro immediately stepped back in and reclaimed this one on its next start. Rare Courage was in fine form before disappointing last time out, but back in the hands of a trainer who knows him well, looks a prime candidate to bounce back.
Race 6 at Turf Paradise (23:15 GMT) is a wide open five-furlong claimer, and Elusive Moment looks to have been put in too short on the Morning Line. Elusive Moment is a consistent enough type, but hasn't run that often since winning in May, and was a vet scratch when scheduled to run two weeks ago. That suggests this seven-year-old gelding isn't the soundest nowadays, and with little in hand of a few of these on form, he should be taken on.
