David Jacobson is one of America's leading trainers in claiming races, and it looks significant that he's prepared to take on a horse that was previously in his care in the first race at Belmont today (18:20 BST). Haverhill and Coolusive both line up for Jacobson, against their ex-stablemate Dan's Gold, who is the forecast favourite. Haverhill was claimed two starts ago by his current trainer, and looks open to the most improvement of the two.
Race 7 at Belmont (21:26 BST) is a competitive claimer, despite there being only seven runners. Coast of Sangria was claimed two starts ago by Rudy Rodriguez, who generally does well with his new acquisitions, but this one looks worth taking on at his forecast price. Coast of Sangria did improve slightly on his first start for his new trainer, but needs to move forward again to win this, and the percentage call is to oppose him, given the level of today's opposition.
Don's Honour looks very solid in the closing race of Penn National's card (02:37 BST). Scott Lake's six-year-old gelding looks likely to get a good trip on the outside, and has been running consistently without getting his head in front. On Timeform ratings, today's opposition is a tad weaker than he's been facing lately, and that slight class drop should be enough to see him back in the winner's circle.
