Timeform's US team bring you two backs and a lay from Belmont on Friday...
While laying Chad Brown turf runners isn't generally recommended as a long-term strategy, there may be some value in taking on Extensible in this maiden claimer...
Belmont race 2 (18:51 BST) - Chico Grande
Chico Grande has made two starts so far, both of them against stronger opposition than he faces here, and he sets the standard on both Timeform form ratings and TimeformUS speed figures. Norm the Giant ran a solid race when second last time out, and rates the main danger.
Belmont race 4 (19:53 BST) - Extensible (LAY)
While laying Chad Brown turf runners isn't generally recommended as a long-term strategy, there may be some value in taking on Extensible in this maiden claimer. His form is no better than a few of his rivals, and there is also a Todd Pletcher debutant to contend with. An outside draw also enhances the prospect of a lay paying off.
Belmont race 7 (21:26 BST) - Saluda
Trainer Michelle Nevin sets an interesting conundrum in this claimer, fielding both the likely short-priced favourite, Caval, and the bigger-priced Saluda. The suggestion is to side with Saluda, who is ridden by Nevin's regular jockey Irad Ortiz, and possesses stronger recent form. Caval hasn't been seen since April, and gets a suspicious-looking drop from allowance to claiming company for this comeback.
