Nick Shiambouros is back with two more selections from the all-weather meeting at Southwell...
"Last year he won off a mark of 75, and if he puts his best foot forward should go close."
14:20 Southwell - Crosse Fire
Crosse Fire should run well at a decent price in this sprint handicap.
This gelding finished second to Archimedes over this course last month. He was headed inside the final furlong, but kept on well to hold on to a place. He takes on the winner on more favourable terms today, and this consistent sort should reverse the placings. Last year he won off a mark of 75, and if he puts his best foot forward should go close. At present he is trading at 7.413/2 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Something Lucky is the current favourite at 2.767/4 on the exchange. He has found one to good on his previous three starts, and may have to settle for the runner-up spot once again. His price is a little thin to say the least.
14:50 Southwell - Lean On Pete
Lean On Pete can upset the short priced favourite in this interesting contest.
He went down fighting when finishing second to Senatus over this course in January. He was headed near the finish, but finished a mile ahead of the third place finisher. This hard knocking gelding takes his racing well, and comes in to this race in great heart. At present he is trading at 5.24/1 on the exchange.
Avocet is the market leader at 2.0811/10 on the exchange. This mare has won two straight for trainer Olly Murphy and is in fine form. She is a deserving favourite but is priced accordingly.
