Nick Shiambouros returns with a couple of decent priced selections from Catterick and Bangor...
"I think he sets a decent standard and should go close despite having to give weight away"
12:35 Catterick - Bahuta Acha
Bahuta Acha can upset the short priced favourite in this novice stakes.
This gelding finished fifth to Jim Rockford in a nursery at Bath. He attempted to make all, but was collared a furlong from home and quickly weakened out of contention. He had previously won a similar event over this course, which reads well in the context of this race. I think he sets a decent standard and should go close despite having to give weight away. At present he is trading at 8.27/1 on the exchange.
The filly Machree heads the market at 1.784/5. She finished fourth to Awesome at York earlier this month. She lost a couple of lengths when jumping a path just over a furlong from home, and would have finished closer to the winner without that mishap. I am not certain she should be odds-on, but is a deserving favourite nonetheless.
12:55 Bangor - Turtle Wars
Turtle Wars could run well at a decent price in this interesting novices' hurdle.
This well related individual finished a promising third in an Irish point last spring. He makes his rules debut for trainer Nicky Henderson, who has fired in a couple of winners in the past few days. This looks like an above average novices' hurdle with several nice types in the field, which is why he is trading at a generous 10.09/1 on the exchange.
Philip Hobbs sends out Dostal Phil who changed hands for a significant sum after winning a Deauville bumper last October. He clearly has ability but looks short enough in the market at 2.111/10.
