Nick Shiambouros started the new year in good form when his best bet Wholestone won at Cheltenham on Monday. Today Nick hopes to keep the run going with a couple of winners from Newcastle...
"This Listed winner has cracked heads with some top class sprinters, and was not disgraced behind Marsha in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York"
Chestnut Fire should run well at a decent price in this competitive handicap. This gelding put in a solid effort when finishing second to Dance Teacher at Kempton last month. He ran on strongly inside the final furlong, and was gaining on the winner close home. This was his best effort for a while and has won off a mark of 92 in the past. At present he is trading at [8.4] on the exchange which is more than fair.
Dellaguista is the favourite at [5.0]. He has won his last two races, but has risen in the weights. I am not certain he can find the necessary improvement to take this.
I am going to take a chance with Final Venture in this interesting sprint.
This Listed winner has cracked heads with some top class sprinters, and was not disgraced behind Marsha in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York. He has not been seen since finishing fourth to Encore D,Or at Doncaster, but should be ready to do himself justice. This looks like a pretty warm race, but I believe he is up to the task if putting his best foot forward. At present he is trading at a generous [16.0] on the exchange.
Trainer David Evans sends out favourite Gracious John who is trading at [3.2] on the exchange. This tough gelding takes his racing well, and will be looking for his third victory in a row. He merits consideration, but looks short enough in the market.
