Nick Shiambouros started the new week with a winner when Show Of Force won at Chepstow. Nick returns with a couple of selections from Carlisle...
"This was a promising first effort from this likeable individual, and clearly has more to offer"
16:45 Carlisle - Debawtry
Debawtry is an interesting runner in this novice auction.
This filly caught the eye on debut when finishing second to Gold Stone at Beverley. She met a little interference a furlong from home, but put in some good work in the closing stages and finished the race with good energy. This was a promising first effort from this likeable individual, and clearly has more to offer. At present she is trading at 3.55 on the exchange.
Han Solo Berger is the current favourite at 3.412/5. He just got the better of Clubbable at Hamilton last month, but does have to carry a penalty for that narrow success. I think he will find it tough conceding weight to the selection.
18:15 Carlisle - Haroon
Haroon is taken to upset the short priced favourite in this maiden.
This gelding finished second to White Rose at Hamilton last week. He attempted to make all, but was headed a furlong from home and had to settle for a place behind the odds-on winner. He has a couple of fair efforts in Ireland, which read well in the context of this race. He may employ front running tactics again today, and could take some pegging back. At present he is trading at 6.411/2 on the exchange.
Sea Tide is the odds-on favourite at 1.9720/21. This well related filly was turned over at a short price when finishing third to Great Court at Wolverhampton earlier this month. She held every chance a furlong from home, but could only stay on at one pace when the chips were down. She is now winless in five starts, and does not look entirely straightforward. I can afford to let her win at this price.
