A determined winner of her penultimate outing at Salisbury, Giving Back improved again to follow up from 4 lb higher at Chepstow last week, travelling smoothly and always in control once produced to lead over three furlongs out, winning by half a length with a bit in hand. The quick turnaround here is a slight concern, but she looks potentially well treated under a 5 lb penalty if arriving in top form, with the prospect of even more to come given her current rate of progression, and it will be disappointing if she isn't thereabouts in her hat-trick bid, representing the Alan King yard that has been amongst the winners under both codes of late (nine winners from last 32 runners).

Incognito sets the standard in this minor event for two-year-old fillies, but the balance of her form identifies her as one to take on. Indeed, the fact that she is seven starts into her career and without a win to her name speaks volumes about her limitations, and her latest effort at Doncaster was just about the worst of the lot, flattening out at the finish to be beaten over five lengths. The application of first-time cheekpieces might help her to get back on track, but it is hardly a confident shout, and she is well worth trying to keep out of the frame with a place lay, with Belle Anglaise, Taamer and Cranberry just three of several interesting sorts running for us in that scenario.
